Yesterday, a group of 10 of us got together and went to this restaurant called Schnitzel Platz. They had their Oktoberfest setup with all the tables stacked in a long row. They didn’t have any festive music, but the place was relatively empty. That’s good, because I heard this place could get rowdy. A group of 33 of my frat bros were coming on Saturday.
They didn’t have a beer menu, but I knew that I wanted some Spaten, anyways. I gave my order to the server, and he gave me this blank stare. He asked, “do you like light? dark?” Spaten, I said again. My buddy saw my frustration with the server and ordered me a liter of Deutch-asdfjkl;…something. I dont know. Nonetheless, it was good. But while the server was bringing out the drinks he asked “who ordered the Spaten?” and took it to the guy at the end of the table. I shook my head and thought “you @$**#%.”
This place was known for serving drinks in a boot. Supposedly, it’s a large glass boot that holds 2 L. No one at our table ordered one, but from the size of the 1 L steins they were huge.

For the meal, I’m at loss for whenever English is the second language on a menu. So, I shared 2 sample platters with 2 other guys. It had a variety of sausages that were all tasty, a bit of pork, red cabbage, and saurkraut. For appetizers, we had potato pancakes. They looked like fried pancakes, and we ate them with applesauce and sourcreme. It was a delightful combination.
As one my friends was finishing up his sausages, he had a plate of about 5 pieces left. He told us not to let the server take his plate. So, he used the international sign for “I’m not done,” and put his phone on the plate. I…guess…that makes sense. No? It did work.

It’s the third day in a row that I woke up and my arm was dead. It had that tingling feeling when you dont get any circulation. During the night, I’ve been shifting my arm under my head for more support.
About 3 weeks ago, I went to Target to get some pillows. I bought one that was “basic” for $2.50 and the other was supposed to be “plump” for $9. I’ve been sleeping with the “plump” one and now its just as deflated as the basic pillow. I should have bought 3 “basics” for less than the price of the wimpy “plump” pillow and stacked them.
Maybe I should just get a space pillow.

A month ago, I commented on these Ipod Subway Maps and how I thought it was a neat idea. Well, it looks like a few weeks later the site was handed legal threats for copyright infringement from many of the transit departments.
I have received a message from the New York MTA to cease and desist offering the New York City MTA Subway Map for the iPod and the iPod Nano. I am hoping to resolve this issue with their marketing department but in the meantime, as an act of good faith, I have removed the maps from the site.
If, for some reason, a licence cannot be acquired, never fear! I’ll just make up a custom set of maps. I’d rather not, as I feel the real maps will be instantly recognizable on your iPod and you won’t have to retrain your mind to acquaint yourself with yet another NYC subway map. Plus, the advantage of the official map on the iPods is that, at any time, you can check the actual map against the one on your screen for confirmation.
I guess the site owner is now working on drawing up his own maps to fit the iPod and nano, but this whole legal threat thing is pretty rediculous. The map distribution is more of a service to the community and a small targeted audience, then for profit. Lighten up people.
I wonder if the Chicago Transit Authority will follow this measure. If so, I downloaded the maps just in case.

During the day I usually listen to NPR or watch PBS and the news. Many of these times, they recommend a book that sounds interesting to read. So, I’ll walk to my desk and write down the title or auther. Well, this Monday, I went to the library, but forgot the sheet that had all my recommendations on it.
So, instead of leaving empty handed, I went to the Wall Street/Financial section. I could hardly find a book on bonsai or tattoos, but there were thousands of books on Wall Street. Rummaging through the masses, I picked up this one called “The Guts & Glory of Day Trading” - True Stories of Day Traders Who Made (or Lost) $1,000,000 by Mark Ingebretsen. It sounded interesting enough.
I’m only two chapters into it, but I am enjoying it. Like the title says, it focuses on stories rather that micromanaging the particular strategies of the trader. But, it gives a brief concept of how they focused on the market. It doesn’t delve into big money lifestyles. Each chapter appears to be dedicated to one individual, and it talks about their background and how started out day trading.
