For Christmas, my roomate got a Chia Elephant. I thought I’d post about it, because it will be fun to watch it’s progress. And because, I’ll probably be the main one taking care of it. Right now, he has it sitting in a plastic tray with tons of seeds in the bottom. I think I might scoop some out and relocate them to other objects and see how well they grow.

Here’s my seasonal tea round-up. Ceej and Melissa got me 4 gourmet teas from MECCA. It includes English Breakfast, Star of Persia, Ceeylon Orange Pekoe, and Snow Monkey Plum. Mom got me a variety of tea bags; English Breakfast, Perfectly Pear (white), Spiced Chai (black), and Salada Green tea. I now have two english breakfasts, so I’m going to try and compare the bag to the loose tea and see which tastes better. Then, I also got my supply from Adagio. Along with the tea mug, it also contained a small “guide to tea” book. It ran through some of the basics about teas, like how some differ, how they’re made, some history, and how to prepare the perfect cup. (which is really up to you)
There is another website by Adagio, which is called Tea Muse. It’s mainly a monthly newsletter, but they post the articles and have a large collection of stories. They also have a google map of tea locations at Tea Maps. Punch in your zip code and find all the restaurants near you.

Here’s my first Christmas card this season. Ironically, it’s from my roomate. It’s a picture of the ominous raingutters, which lead into our neighbors back home. The caption reads:
May your Holidays be filled with Warmth and Wonder
….and may that warmth thaw the “high-efficiency plumbing system” in my luxurious Pilsen neighborhood condo. - Feliz Navidad!!!!!”

Yesterday, I bought some loose tea from Adagio Tea. They have a wide array of teas and a most pleasing website I’d have to say. Originally, I heard about the brand when ex-TechTV host Kevin Rose promoted them on Diggnation, a weekly video podcast. This week, they are actually sponsoring diggnation and offering a special offer for listeners. It contains 4 different flavors and a teapot for brewing the loose tea. It looks kind of gadgety, but if it doesn’t require new filters all the time, and I dont break it, then it should be worth while. Especially, since I’ve been wanting to try some new flavors.
- genmai cha: An exotic Japanese recipe that combines popped rice and popcorn with tender and delicate green tea leaves.
- green pekoe: A thin, wavy tea from the Fujian province of China. Produces a light cup with a smooth, mellow taste and a gentle, soothing aroma.
- sencha overture: Green tea from the Shizuoka region of Japan. A delicate second flush (summer) tea whose soothing taste make it a perfect everyday treat.
- chamomile: The finest varieties of Chamomile, of which our tea is a great example, continue to come from Egypt.

I dont have to park along the street, but if I did this would peev me even more. Nearly half the people in this neighborhood think they own the street in front of their house. Therefore, they put milk crates, chairs, whatever they can find in the road to try and “mark their parking territory.”
