Memorial weekend

So, I guess Ceej is coming up to Chicago on Tuesday.

I havent been doing much this Memorial Day weekend. My roomate left on Friday, and I’ve been snacking on his left over food. Yesterday, I rode over to Lake Michigan early in the morning. Around 10:30, I observed that many of the sailboats were leaving the harbor. So, I headed over there. I watched some people clean off their boats and get ready to sail out.

I hear that many illegal Mexicans can hang out in a parking lot, and people will approach them to do work for the day. I thought it would be neat if that worked the same way at the harbor. Someone would approach me on my bike about being their “helper monkey” for the day and in exchange I could go boating with them. Then, if they needed an extra hand or someone to get them a beer, I’d run over to lend them a hand. I should find out if any of my friends have rich boating relatives.

I also saw this article in Kiplingers called the ‘50 Smartest Places to Live.’

#1 Nashville, Tenn.
#2 Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.
#3 Albuquerque, N.M.
#4 Atlanta, Ga.
#18 St Louis, MO

Unless, I get a job in Chicago, I dont see any reason why I’d want to live here. Housing is expensive an we’re packed in like sardines. There is this brick home being built in my neighborhood. It has 3 floors (for apartments), 12′ ceilings, and a bunch of nice amenities. However, it faces North towards some train tracks, and it’s priced in the $289′s. I think I’d much rather have a nicer home, a yard, and a better neighborhood for that price. Most condo’s in downtown are going for the same price, and you’d obviously get a smaller area. Of course, me buying a home is still far off, but I’m just thinking about it.

Downtime

It’s now a daily occurance that my internet goes down. It’s just a matter of when each day. So, that kind of puts an end to work when I’m trading. The Chicago weather has been particularly nasty for the last week or so. It’s been spontaneously cold, rainy, and thundering, which is probably the reason the internet has been down so often. Then, all of a sudden, it will be sunny outside. So, being the sally that I am, I haven’t biked in awhile.

I finished changing the template to Melissa’s myspace, since I can do that offline. But I saved the best for myself. Ha ha! Yes, I actually signed up and made a page. I covered up the embedded advertisements, and gave it a new appearance. Now, when people ask if I’m on myspace, I can say yes and be like “whut up”. (not really)

I’m only 10 pages away from completing my rasterbation. I think I should have made it smaller, but I’m gonna see about laminating it or putting them on some frame. I dont think that taping each page to the wall would look good or at least last long. The wind would probably blow every page off in a day or two. But, I still have to cut off the borders on every page. It’s been an arduous task and filling downtime.

I also found a new tv series to watch. Previously, it was Firefly and Battlestar Gallactica. Now it’s Doctor Who. It started back in 1963, and it’s one of the longest running tv series. It reminds me of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books. The Doctor and his companions travel through time from place to place and set things right. Check for it if you get the BBC network or look for episodes floating around the web.

Coney Photos

Thursday night in the nosebleed section.

Friday night, floor seats but still in the back row. I wanted to take a picture w/ Andy and Conan doing the desk sketch, but around that time O’Bama’s security force was prowling the isles. Photography wasn’t allowed from the beginning and I wasn’t going to risk it with them around.

Conan in Chicago

If you haven’t been staying up late, you may have missed the first night of Conan in Chicago. Tonight, he is set to have Dave Chappelle and musical guest Common, which should prove to be entertaining. Here’s the tentative guest list:

  • Tuesday, May 9: Sean Hayes from “Will & Grace”
  • Wednesday, May 10: Dave Chappelle, Common
  • Thursday, May 11: John C. Reilly
  • Friday, May 12: Sen. Barack Obama, Wilco

If you watch on Thursday night, who knows, you might see a certain someone in the audience. ;)
