Last Comic Standing is one of those summer shows that I actually looked forward to watching. Everytime they promoted the show, they had these unique comics telling funny, original jokes. And tonight they aired the final cut of comics who were making it on the show. The funny commercial people didn’t make it on the show. Meanwhile, every typecast comic did.

All the commercials promoted this one energetic girl with a lisp. She was borderline nuts…but hilarious. On her sketch, she duct taped and hit herself a couple of times. That is funny $hit, right there. There was also this loser kid who made jokes about catching fish with a hook, catching deer with a hook, and catching women with a hook. That’s original my friends and what the world needs. But, no, they got cut.

The comics who did make it were predictably unfunny. A big hispanic comic told jokes about mexicans and food. Ok, I get it…you’re fat. NEXT! Then, a pregnant woman from Boston told jokes about her kids and husband. You’re hormonal and loud. Got it. Another woman told jokes about being in the gym. Honestly, I think out of shape people taking their first trip to the gym has been done before. I heard one joke from most of these people and changed the channel.

NBC is typecasting big time, here. They know those comics were funny and had unique material. That’s why they put them on the commercials. Meanwhile, they’re going to appease the broader audience and fit in every demographic that they can. Ridiculous.
