Well, I think we can officially declare summer in Chicago over. Actually, I think it abandoned us in the beginning of August, when I had to start pulling a blanket off the couch during the night. We’ve had a weeks worth of gloom and doom. Plenty of clouds. Rained all yesterday. Cold wind a blow’n. At the first hint of the sun, which should be Thur, I’m heading to the beach to savor what remains.
Here are some snippets.
- ‘Sabbia.’ A collaboration between ,musician, Brant Bjork and, film maker, Kate McCabe. I’ve heard good reviews from peers and plan on picking it up soon.
- New Mondo Generator album on the way.
- QOTSA Baby Rock? Perhaps.
- Sonic Youth’s Rather Ripped = Groovy album.
- Final Answer: Rooibos Sweet Orange, not as attractive as the name implies. Young Hyson, nice “grassy” tea.
- Finished reading Bluebeard. Checked out The Martian Chronicles and The Sirens of Titan.
- Someone’s in the Wolf rasterbation

I noticed in the middle of August, when I got back from Pittsburgh, that nighttime temp seemed to have cooled off some. We had a hot weekend this past weekend, but last evening as night fell, a wind started blowing around, not just gentle breezes but little gusts. And, it rained some this morning and the sky is pretty overcast right now. Feels very much like the beginning of fall. Not cold and certainly not crisp but need another blanket on the bed if we’re going to keep the window open at night. And about blankets, I needed one while I was reading on the couch last night with the living room windows opened. The gusts coming in were a little on the chilly side.
