Turkey Week Snippets

Day of Turkey is fast approaching, and I wont be posting for another week. I’ll be taking the train to Iowa, and spending time with the family. Now, I know you’re all eager to read ‘Part 3′ and then the dramatic climax of ‘Part 4′, but you’ll just have to wait. Until then, I’ll try to hold you over with some blogs, music, and news snippets.

  • iamfacingforeclosure.com/ -A 24-year-old aspiring real estate investor from Sacramento CA. After going to few seminars he bought 8 houses in 8 months. However, he’s ran out of cash, an is now facing foreclosure.
  • johnchow.com/ – He’s an internet mogul, who talks about making money on the web, how he made his career, fancy restaurants, and general techy stuff.
  • tradertim.blogspot.com/ – Tim Knight, founder of a technical analysis site, gives his daily perspective on the market, his portfolio, and option positions.
  • I’m on the Flying Spaghetti Monster Halloween page.
  • Family Guy Clip – How’s that novel you’ve been working on?
  • I think an Akita Inu would also be a fun dog to have. The Shiba Inu is a pocket size version.
  • I found the website for Brainstorm: Movies, Comics, and Games. This is the rental place I’ve been going to. Though, I haven’t been there in awhile.
  • Patriot act makes it harder to get real Sudafed

Music:

  • Blue Cheer – a San Francisco-based rock group of the late 1960s and early 1970s, who helped to pioneer heavy metal music.
  • Jefferson Airplane -an American rock band from San Francisco, a pioneer of the LSD-influenced psychedelic rock movement.
  • Foo Fighters new Skin and Bones album. I might have to get the UK DVD. It comes with 2 DVDs, whereas the US version may have only 1.

That’s it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the snippets. A hearty second of Ceej and hear hear on the Family Guy clip, the Japanese Inus are very cute. Nice coloring on the coats too.

Thumper just got a bath this morning so he’s all shiny and soft. Totally awesome about your costume making it to the FSM site. Haven’t checked out the music yet…got a little impatient waiting for it to load, but will try later.

almost forgot…cops are getting taser happy around here lately, too. They actually managed to kill someone who was “acting weird” a few weeks ago. Investigation pending…

One of Doug’s marine buddies sent him a video of some guy being told to get out of his car a few times. Guy responding too slowly “just a second…I’m coming.” And apparently the cops were too impatient and weirded out, and they tasered him. Pretty massive stuff.

Bottom line: if a cop asks you to do something, don’t say hold on, or just a second. Do what they ask, when they ask it. If they say get to the ground, for heaven’s sake, get to the ground!

Yeah, I should apologize for linking to myspace. I really dont like using it, but it’s the best way to listen to a couple of quick songs. Even if it doesn’t work all the time. I do like “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane.

Yeah, the taser video touched a nerve with me. Yes, we dont know the whole issue, and the student wasn’t fully cooperating. But the number of taserings was completely uncalled for. They also threatened other students. :(

I’m a bit skeptical of police and authority in general. On one hand, I know there is a need for them, but I always wonder “who will police the police?” There is always one bad nut that ruins it for everyone. But then, there are helpful ones too that spend the day searching for Pepperoni.

Anyhoo, I’ll be heading out tomorrow afternoon. The train ride should take ~3:30 hrs. I’ll have my nano and Harry Potter at hand.

Yeah I think the bad apples on the police force are definitely spoiling it. It’s a shame, but on the other hand, I think people are causing the problems themselves. It is not appropriate to back-talk a policeman. It pisses them off and makes them want to taser you. Think how much simpler that would have been if it had gone something like,

“hey do you have an ID?
“No.
“Get out.

And the guy could have left. Yeah if the cops were going around to kids in the computer lab saying things like everyone stay as you are, keep writing your essays and we;re going to do random tasings. Yeah that’s uncalled for.

BUt aggravating a police officer is actually a form of criminal offense. What is the definition of aggravating? Probably different in different places but the officers themselves get to make the call.

If you don’t do as they say, you void and null your rights. I’m not saying that’s how it should be, but that’s my understanding of how it is. And if people have a problem with that, bringing it up with the officers while they are in the bad situation isn’t the most effective way to come up with a solution.

I think it’s also a problem of people thinking that they are above the rules. If that kid was really a student there, why didn’t have his ID? And if he knew he didn’t have it and they told him to leave, why didnt he just to as they said and come back with his ID?

It’s like when people are in the left hand turn lane and then decide they want to go straight. The safe thing to do would be to turn left, turn around and get going in the direction they want to go following the signals. But instead they’re so impatient to get where they’re going, they swerve in front of traffic and make things dangerous for everyone around. They’re above the rules because they changed their mind…
