So Tired

I’ve been really drained as of lately. As most of you know I started a new job at the Board of Trade. One of my friends hooked me up with this job. I’m a clerk. This best analogy of this position would be a waiter. The traders make orders in the pits. I take the orders and put them in the computer. I give them an analysis of their positions. Then, they use the information to swing their positions. I’m always on my feet and moving around. The hours are short, but it’s a physical drain from what I’m use to. (You know…sitting around all day.) My feet hurt. Everyone wears tennis shoes, and I’ve been running around in dress shoes. I’d like to buy some new clothes. In three days I’ve gone through my closet of dress pants, shirts, and 1 tie. I want some tennis shoes that look classy with khakis. Today, I forgot breakfast and went until 4PM on an empty stomach. There are things I want to learn on my own outside of work, but mostly I want to lay down and rest when I get home.

Wow! I had no idea you got a new job. Congrats! I hope to read some future blogs on this job. That is …. if there is anymore to it. I’ve went on some unintentional hunger bouts at UPS when driving sometimes. It’s pretty crappy, but at least there are gas stations where I can usually get something to eat or drink. It’s hard to find nutritional things. Anyway, cheers on the job.

Hopefully you’re starting to get the hang of things…surely you get some sort of break for something to eat? Anyway…yeah I’ll be interested to know what more you have to say about it as you go along and as you start to learn more about the area, where the popular places to eat are, what your fave things to get are, and other stuff like that! (I’m in the middle of making veggie stock and am about to make oatmeal cookies and then I’ll probably make a veggie shepherd’s pie out of the leftover veggies from the stock so food is very much on my brain right now :)
I bet your tiger paw(?) kicks would look really great with khakis though they probably wouldn’t be good for being on your feet all day…though some cushy work insoles might alleviate that. When I started working at Bergner’s, the insoles worked like magic and once your feet get used to being on the go it will get better…what I mean to say is the first day is usually the worst so, feetwise, it should be downhill the rest of the way.

Cheers from us too and hang in there!

No. No breaks from 9-1:45. Eating on the floor is prohibited, though a few people sneak in some munchies. I wore my New Balances on Thur/Friday and my feet feel soooo much better. So, to heck with looking good.

Another clerk has been training me this week. He’s the resident rockstar, doing anything and everything for all the traders. When there is a problem, everyone goes to see him. He can read sheets and identify problems like reading a calendar. I believe he starts trading on Monday. So, I wont have him to check my work and questions. :( He says he had someone helping him for a month before he was on his own. After next week, we’ll also be one man short, because another guy is leaving.
