To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I bought the pastels. I just wanted something cheap with many colors. I got 64 small blocks in the package. The paper, I bought with few pages, but a heavier weight.
When I made my first stroke I thought, “Oh,…is that what it looks like. That sux.” I then used my finger to smear the chalk and work it into the paper. I think I got the hang of it by the second picture. I went back and forth to the sink to wash off my finger for each color. I was hoping that some of the moisture in the air would help prevent smearing.

Nice work, old chap! Pastels? Someone once told be to spray a pastel with hairspray to keep it from smearing, but that was also when hairspray came in an aerosol can…
