I want to add a few resolutions, which include education and critical thinking. Many universities (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/YaleCourses?feature=watch#p/p" title="Yale Courses" rel="nofollow">Yale</a>) are creating/ have created "open lectures" for any one on the internet to watch at any time. I want to follow some of these lectures about Education and Philosophy.

The next is to follow up on the "Tolkein Professor" lectures. There was a period where I was listening to these lectures regularly. But, then he started posting them late, and I fell had a falling out. I'd like to finish listening to the "Fairie and Fantasy" course and a few Hobbit lectures.

Elk: didn't you go to one of those places that has a bunch of different meats? And they didn't have elk? I ended up making it into a french beef burgundy but with elk instead of beef.

It was good! Cooked the heck out of it so it was nice and tender. Elk is one of the leanest meats so I was worried it would be really tough and chewy but cooking it that way I think really helped. I ate the last bit of leftover elk burgundy yesterday mixed with some ramen noodles. Yum!

Merry Christmas, Mers! (Or, Happy Boxing Day!) :)

Oh well. Better luck next year, Clear.

Since you think it's lame, can I hold onto your card until you get here? :P But seriously, that would take a load off/save a trip to the post office with a 9 month old.

I cant say I've ever eaten elk. Maybe I'll add that to my 2012 goals.

Trying to remember and send Bday card as a resolution is kinda lame unless you're slipping $2 into each one. Then people would be more surprised. They'd be like, "Why is Clear giving me money? And $2 nonetheless?"

PS And speaking of meat, one of Doug's co-workers gave him a couple of elk steaks from an elk he hunted himself. I'll be trying elk for the first time today!

Yikes, that reminds me about my New Year's Resolution. I already let down all the July bdays again. You'd think I'd have that one down pat, but I'm still not used to 3 other bdays all up in my month! XP

We at least called the July bdays, but Doug's poor November nephew; poor B's bday always sneaks up on me. Ugh and I guess I never did send a card to mom...sheesh! Doug's mom even got us a bday reminder calender thing 6 years ago...I think it's in the garage... Three December bdays to go. I think if I do a bday res again, I need something more concrete like "finish ALL the bday cards by the end of FEBRUARY: stamped and ready to go at a moment's notice!"

I was kind of planning to expand to cousins for 2012, both mine and Doug's, and adding Doug's aunt and uncle which would also require getting some addresses. Maybe I should go get cards today while I have the car? :)

In one of my English classes, I was teaching the students how to use the "future tense" and to make predictions. Nearly all of them said that there would be no English teachers. People would be learning from tablet 'webinars' and speaking with real native speakers face-to-face via cameras .... I was like "Ahhh, poop. There goes my job."

I remembered to look for e-books when I went to the major bookstore this weekend. Surprisingly, I only saw one model of e-reader and it wasn't from a brand name that I would recognize. I'd say that Korea is way behind in e-publishing. I suppose they're only focusing on 7 inch tablets.

SRSLY You need to write a book. This is funny stuff. I've encountered people like this on my delivery route. One lady got a lot of medications. She had spinal cancer and was in a lot of pain so I felt bad for her. Anyway she had to sign for her meds and asked me for my digits and gave me hers so she could get with me and know when I was coming so she'd be ready. I gave her my number (hesitantly) and not 2 minutes after driving off she's calling me asking about medication to be delivered on Saturday.... DOH!

BTW, the Nocturnum was not so good. Probably a low C on my scale. The first sip was "Hmmm...this is unique and different." And as I worked my way down the glass, it changed to "do I really need to finish." I did but I did not recommend it to my friends. As I drank it, I thought about all the other things I could have done with that money: wine, steak, books; you name it. Even that specially dripped decaf coffee would have been better.

Of beer, yeah I hear you, Ceej. That's why I preferred going to Trader Joes or Whole Foods and picking up a 6-back. I think it's better to enjoy craft beers at home AND not pay a hefty taxed or marked up beer.
